JJ Precision reaches the five-year mark injury free
With the increasing need for healthy and safe working environments over the last two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, Berry Astrapak commends JJ Precision for maintaining their exceptional operational standards.
Five years without recordable injury is a substantial milestone to be congratulated and praised. JJ Precision’s clean record is a testament to their hardworking team who dedicate themselves diligently to upholding safety regulations. Such a milestone can only be achieved when each person takes immense pride in their work and strives to become better with every passing day.
“The safety culture that we have cultivated in our factory did not come overnight. For our site to respect safety protocols and each other’s wellbeing to this extent, it was necessary for our staff to have a good understanding of our procedures. Following this, these rules were adopted by all and strictly enforced to maintain our high standards,” explained Nalesh Harinarain, Quality Assurance Manager (JJ Precision).
The Durban-based division gained much insight from other Berry Astrapak sites and from the Global Group through best practice sharing. Nalesh shared that the reporting of hazards has led to the improvement of their safety awareness. Added to this initiative, safety remains a top priority and an inherent value in their leadership team to make sure that every team member is looked after.
“Safety is a human value and a moral obligation born out of caring – it’s not just a company requirement,” said Gavin van Schoor, General Manager. “We need to look after each other as well as looking after ourselves because nobody is infallible. This achievement is an example of how safety starts with good housekeeping and organisation.”
Big congratulations go out to JJ Precision for showing that consistency is key. Attaining this five-year milestone would not have been possible without site-wide commitment and contribution. May your example continue to inspire and show that this level of excellence is indeed possible.
