Grant Matthews to head up Astrapak's sales team
Berry Astrapak welcomes Grant Matthews into the position of Sales Executive, based in Gauteng. Stemming from an engineering background, Grant has been involved in the plastics industry since 1986, working with major plastic manufacturing companies in South Africa which has gained him more than 30 years’ experience.
Grant is reunited with Astrapak after a short period away. He previously worked in the PET division, which was not part of the acquisition by RPC Plc in 2015, and so in many respects has returned to his roots.
When asked about what excites him about his line of work, Grant was quick to express it’s the sense of achievement when working on a product or process.
“[I enjoy] that excitement when you’re able to achieve the desired result. I also enjoy working in a team environment and the dynamics of sales – the strategy drives me,” he said.
Grant brings a solid business perspective to the table and years of tough commercial experience. He commented that “over the years, we’ve been so operations focused on a day-to-day level that we don’t think where we want to be as a business or as people and this limits our direction.”
An ex-Capetonian, Grant now lives in Gauteng and is married with two sons, aged 22 and 24. One of his hobbies to help him unwind is golf and he is a self-proclaimed golf junkie – with the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City ranking as one of his favourite courses.
Being a powerful sales leader, his aim is to drive increased sales to maximise full plant utilisation, with a great focus on ensuring continued synergy between manufacturing people and salespeople in order to drive the strategic objectives of the company.
Welcome to the team, Grant.
