Satisfy your sushi cravings
The origination of sushi was in itself a packaging solution. In ancient China, the early beginnings of sushi involved wrapping fish in fermented rice as a preservation method to increase the longevity of seafood. People would peel off and discard the rice casing as a kind of packaging, eating only the fish that remained.
With the development of refrigeration technology, today’s sushi eaters can enjoy fresh fish and sticky rice in one morsel. Evolving from a “slow food” to a popular fast food in modern times, reliable packaging is paramount to keep sushi fresh and safe to consume, especially with takeaway options.
Berry Astrapak’s Thermopac plant manufactures clam fold over trays suitable for sushi takeaways. Made from thermoformed PET, the container is lightweight therefore more economical to transport compared to other packaging materials.
The sushi tray has an attractive smooth finish and is completely transparent. Clear packaging allows for the contents to advertise itself: brightly coloured sushi is enticing, and consumers will want to inspect the product for freshness.
With its circular shape, the clam fold over resembles typical sushi platters found in restaurants. A round platter gives more surface area and provides greater visual appeal plus space for a wide variety of sushi pieces, offering the consumer different flavours and textures to tempt their taste buds. For this reason, curated platters are a treat and are generous enough to satisfy lunch-time cravings or dinner at home surprises.
The platter lid clasps snuggly onto the base of the tray, for easy resealing. Quite appropriately, sushi prepared with meticulous knife skills should be contained in packaging with precise fittings.
Post-use, PET can be readily recycled into a variety of products including new containers, luggage and even T-shirt fabric.
