Reaching out with our customer tentacles

“The future depends on what you do today.” – Mahatma Gandhi

During the month of June, News24 reported a giant squid stranded at Britannia Bay beach in the Western Cape. The squid was completely intact and was really an incredible sight to behold as they mostly exist at depths of up to 3000 feet under the surface of the sea, therefore rarely seen.

The images showed just how difficult it must be for the giant squid’s prey to escape the eight long tentacles, which clearly each reach in different directions simultaneously. Such incredible agility!

Over the last years, Astrapak has adopted certain new business characteristics and one of these is our newly acquired agility – the ability to respond to customer needs, identify opportunities some customers didn’t even realise exist, to interpret market conditions and to “wrap our tentacles” metaphorically around challenges and embrace them to make for better end results.

Not only has this pandemic that we are still fighting, forced our business to test our agility to the limit, it has also brought us much closer to some of our customers, focusing on finding fast and effective solutions in times that allow for very small margins of error.

Our agility has also shown through the two acquisitions we have experienced in the last four years adopting new international standards and working with powerful global partners who have invested greatly in helping Astrapak transform into what we have today. Without these interventions it is possible that our recovery from the pressures of COVID-19 would have been vastly different.

Our strive for continuous improvement in our people and technology offers Berry Astrapak an incredible market advantage during such tumultuous times. This strive coupled with our agility has helped us unlock an extended personal care market, with opportunities to grow our offering in the pharmaceutical market. The foresight of our professional team and their agility to respond to instant needs catapulted our range of products and levels of supply in this industry.

Over many years we have maintained and improved our technical focus on the mould-making facet of our business. It is this work that has provided a powerful platform to promote our incredible generic range of products, which often go un-noticed. The vast range of options in our generic products offer somewhat more solutions than what may meet the eye.

Whilst we believe our business remains as agile as a giant squid’s tentacles, we remain thoroughly alert to the challenges the international economy continues to bear down on us. Our constant reassessment of our business structures and model remains one of our greatest challenges to ensure that we never lose the agility, always allowing us to be able to react as swiftly as this recent period has shown.

Berry Astrapak remains committed to existing and potential customers offering a vast array of professional tailored solutions and we cannot wait to find out how we can help your business.
