THERMOPAC MAINTAINS EXCELLENT QUALITY STANDARDS THROUGHOUT COVID-19

Thermopac, a company in Berry Astrapak’s thermoforming division, has completed its annual BRC accreditation audit and has successfully retained BRC status with AA certification.

Retaining an internationally recognised accreditation in hygiene and food safety for the last 15 years demonstrates that Berry Astrapak is committed to providing the ultimate quality of packaging for food application.

What with COVID-19 disrupting business during the post part of 2020, it’s no small feat to pass operational audits with flying colours. Now, more than ever, there is a drive to supply safe, hygienic packaging to the food industry.

Virgil Saunders, Technical Trainer at Thermopac, explained that the company kept up to date and adapted its procedures to stay in line with new COVID-19 protocols. Thermopac faced the challenges head-on and took care of its employees, supplying them with the necessary PPE to complete tasks safely.

“We introduced a greater awareness of the safety risks surrounding the virus, and we placed specific emphasis on the fact that there’s a responsibility to remain safe not only at work, but at home as well,” Virgil remarked.

The current coronavirus crisis has not made it easy for business as the landscape changes rapidly, but the Thermopac team were quick on their feet in the face of uncertainty.

“Our General Manager encouraged us almost daily to stay focused and level-headed. We were able to work together to tip the scale of crisis in our favour. Throughout it all, we believe there is a silver lining,” said Virgil.

Despite the setbacks that the coronavirus pandemic presented, the team at Thermopac in Cape Town has lived up to their excellent standards. This division was able to improve their procedures and operational standards, thereby keeping the company’s place in the race as leaders in the food packaging market.
