Plastics in Fight Against COVID-19
With Berry Astrapak receiving approval from local government to be listed as an essential service provider during South Africa’s 21-day national lockdown, the company has been hard at work to produce crucial packaging orders to meet stringent timelines in a fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Berry Astrapak has ramped up efforts to meet the growing demand for the packaging of hand sanitisers and lotions to aid personal hygiene, with increased production at their sites in a group-wide drive to meet these requests. The products in high demand are the Boston bottles ranging in size from 50ml, 100ml, 200ml and 400ml and the corresponding closure, as well as a variety of tube sizes and volumes.
The sales team and associated support team have driven this demand from their existing customers and potential new customers to be produced at various manufacturing facilities around South Africa and have worked closely with their colleagues to meet, and in many cases exceed, customers’ expectations.
In turn, the sales team commended their teams on the ground for their outstanding performance in meeting stringent customer deadlines.
Berry Astrapak MD, Craig Matthews, congratulated his staff on their tremendous energy and continued contribution during this challenging time.
“Our company has done a remarkable job in acting swiftly to meet the increased request for essential products. From our tooling company Spec Tool & Die Innovation and Design Centre who have worked around the clock to complete moulds for production, to the manufacturing sites who have gone the extra mile in many instances. Well done to you all for your enthusiastic response in your various roles and for turning out these products as quickly as you have. It is at times such as these that real teams display what they are made of and we believe that our team is a significant part of the success of our customers’ businesses.”
